Nia - Distant Colors - Single Cover Art

Nia is a Philadelphia based alternative R&B singer, songwriter, as well as a great friend and colleague. The release of her 2021 single, Distant Colors (LINK) was an excellent opportunity to paint a high- resolution digital portrait, in addition to experimenting with time lapse technologies.

Above is a video time lapse of about 2 weeks of painting in 60 seconds. In this clip, you see me starting with a low-res selfie, sketching a rough outline, then building up dozens of layers to create a photo realistic digital portrait. The majority of this work was done using the 13.3 inch Huion Kamvas 12 graphics drawing tablet (LINK), in conjunction with the IbisPaint application (LINK).

Nia would then use the portrait time lapse to create a video promotion for the Distant Colors single release. (LINK)
